Hey Team! I’m Bo Welden, a lifelong naturalist educator and professional wildlife guide based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I’m a big fan of wildlife, wild places and sharing all I know with all I can!

Why do you need a guide?

Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks are enormous spaces as parts of the last intact ecosystems in the USA. As a guide, I am consistently plugged into the recent happenings in both parks and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE). This area covers nearly 23 Million Acres so it is worth it to have a local contact.

Not to mention letting someone else do the driving for the day!

Wildlife Tour Options

Sunrise Wildlife Tour

These are the shortest tours that I lead with four packed hours of searching for wildlife in Grand Teton! The goal here is to get away from the crowds fast and catch those first magic moments of the day. Along the way we will be looking hard for bison, black bears, pronghorn antelope, grizzly bears, moose and more.

These trips are a great option for those who would like to spend the rest of the day exploring all that Jackson Hole has to offer but don’t want to miss out on making some take home memories at first light. This tour, like all of our trips, includes a light breakfast of local baked goods, french pressed coffee, water, and assorted libations as well.

Full Day Wildlife Tour

Grand Teton is approximately 310,000 acres, which means it takes time to explore. This tour keeps us busy solely in Grand Teton for 8 hours while we catch those first magic morning moments and have a bit more wiggle room to wait for animals to appear.

This tour is a perfect option to get to know the park a bit more and spend more time with a knowledgeable guide. In addition to more time together these tours are highlighted by an amazing lunch provided by a local catering company. We will take a moment from the morning looking for wildlife to enjoy our lunch in a breathtaking location before a few more sightings on our way home.

Yellowstone & Back Tour

Getting into Yellowstone and back does requires some drive time that cannot be avoided. So why not let someone else do the driving, all the while spotting wildlife and telling tales of early days in the west.

One of the many benefits of traveling to Yellowstone from Jackson Hole is that we journey through the Tetons at first light when wildlife is most active! Hurdling north, we enter the South Gate of Yellowstone, spending our first stops walking between Geyser basins, including the classic Old Faithful. While seeing wildlife will be an objective of the day the benefit of geothermal features, waterfalls, and canyons are that they don’t move! So we will have plenty of moments to see all the sights that started the first National Park!

Multi-Day Adventures

We see it all on these trips! The greatest hurdles for viewing wildlife in Grand Teton and Yellowstone are time and space. The math is simple. If you have more time to cover more space the better the likelihood you will see some amazing sightings. Our evening will be spent in hotels giving up from dawn till dusk looking for critters, going on short hikes, picnic lunches in the field and more. If you are interested in a Multi-Day trip, contact me and we can begin planning more logistics. Trust me, it’s worth it!

Tailgate Updates:

For those who want (maybe need) even more wildlife content. I sit on the back of my truck and talk at length all about my recent sightings and the factors that make this place amazing!

More about me…

In short, I’ve been a naturalist educator for more than a decade with participants as young as four and as wise as ninety-six! I’ve been a classroom elementary school teacher, helped design curriculum for middle school students in mountain towns in Colorado, and have helped build new structures for primary schools in Africa.

  • Ooof, this is a tough one to answer quickly, but it might be when Grizzly Bear 399 and her 18th cub appeared the summer of 2023. I was able To watch the new family for well over two hours at 85 yards. I was huddled in my truck as she was to close to be on foot. That little cub looked me right in the eye while standing on his back legs. That is a moment I won’t soon forget!

  • I have been wildlife guiding since 2020 AND have been a naturalist educator for more than 10 years. Many of those years were in Colorado and a few more tacked on here in Jackson Hole!
